casting plaster how to
How much is my full leg plaster cast going to weigh?

I have re-injured my leg, after sixteen weeks earlier this winter in fiberglass casts. This time my doctor is putting me in a full leg (all the way to the top) plaster cast, because he says that he wants me to take it easy. That is, he thinks (and I am afraid he may be right) that I will be less active in plaster.
I am 5’11 and short waisted, with thin legs. I am going to weigh myself before I go to the hospital and then when I come home. Best answer will be determined when I can weigh myself after returning home.
If you have worn a plaster leg cast I would love advice or tips.

Since you were in a cast earlier, you probably are pretty good on crutches and that will be a plus. Not having to learn how to use crutches, you can be mobile immediately. My best advice is to not become a couch potato, move around and try to do what you otherwise would, within reason. I hope that there is good reason to use plaster instead of fiber, plaster is heavier. I was in a cast for seven months and if you need advice feel free to email me. Good luck
