What is the best modeling clay so you can make small models?

I'm making a DNA model and is due on Monday, there will be a great model, probably 10 or 12 inches in height, which is the modeling clay to make better use of such a model? Easy to carve, but enough safe non-melting.

Super Sculpey composite ceramics as sculpture. (It hardens in the oven at low temperature). It is available in hobby shops. or online. They come in a pound. boxes. is not white, which seems to be much more flexible than the color of the skin. that are under $ 10 last time I checked. I hope this help
