homemade modeling clay recipe
Is there a way to preserve modeling clay w/o burning in a kill? How about glue varnish?Recipe?

I bought inexpensive air dry modeling clay for my children. But it breaks real easy. I read some where to put homemade glue varnish on it.( But I can’t find the directions anymore).Would that help anyway? I also made play dough/clay from flour, salt and water. But when it drys ,it’s becomes brittle. What can I do? Thanks
Does anybody know the directions how to make glue varnish?

If your kids like modeling and you really want to preserve things you can look into polymer clay which can be hardened in a normal kitchen oven. It is essentially plastic so much more stable.

You can stabilize to some extent airdry modeling clay by varnishing or painting it, just normal acrylic paint will do and if you want you can put clear varnish on top. You don’t make it, it comes in a can or a spray can and you can buy it in any art/craft store or hardware store. If you feel you need glue then glues like wood glue or elmers glue will dry reasonably clear and glossy and you can just paint them on.

But it won’t do miracles and you will have to live with a product which is unlikely to last forever. But that is OK too. If you bake a cake or make a flower arrangement you don’t expect to last either forever too.
