Do it yourself vinyl molding *VINYL TOYS*?
Hi just wondering if anyone know any good online recourses for home vinyl molding techniques and supplies….my only experience has been with making latex mold making for plaster but would like to start making more substantial sculptures from vinyl.
Thanks in advance for your help.
i dont know of a site. but if you go on to ebay, and look for doll parts. theres a lady or two on there that sell what they call re birth vinal dolls. theres also a lady that makes her own moulded stuff. rabbit heads and santa heads etc. you’l find her in the buy it now section of doll parts. i think vinal moulding is more popular in the states. so if you email any of the ladies who are selling the stuff, i’m sure they will put you on to a supplyer. even if its an American supplyer its ok. i order stuff from the states all the time. they’re very fast. as far as techniques go……its best to get an artical…(say a cheap re pro dolls head) and you’l see the technique for your self ie. the mould line. i make moulds to cast metal all the time. once you get the hang of the fall!! of the object. itle all come together. ( sorry, bit hard to explain) but i’m sure the supplyers will have books to help you…..its exiting when you go for a whole new medium for the first time. i hope you get a lot of enjoyment from it. ((good luck.))
