lost wax casting wear problem?
so I'm young and I'm doing through rings of lost wax casting. I am using frame specific investment. My oven burnout is a propane gas barbecue or I can use my furnace / oven – a metal drum of 15 gallons with two propane burners torches attached to the manifold. hot enough to melt steel. However, the first time I put my mind at the barbecue about an inch or so above the flame of the wax dripping Then I left and came back and check on him and investment has expanded and cracked. I let it dry for more than 24 hours.
You are probably heating too hot too fast. If all the wax was not of the investment and caught fire, which could have caused the crack. Another problem could be ceramic materials investment themselves. They have water and binder materials of their own that need to come out as well. Try to put your biggest investment burner, or turn your burner on low for a few hours at first to see if a more gentle warming will help.
