Will my clay piece work if its not fired?

So i want to make my self a nice little pipe out of clay. My friend go me a nice little chunk of clay and i molded it into a pipe. It is currently in the closet drying. I was wondering if i juts let it dry for a while can i smoke from it? Is this bad for me or anything? Just as a note it doesn’t need to last a long time and i will make sure too keep it out of water.

well if you’ve worked with clay before you should know that when it dries to a light color it becomes “bone dry” meaning it becomes extremely brittle and weak maybe you should check with your friend to see what kind of clay he got you because at some craft stores they sell clay that can be fired in an oven check with your friend on it
