modeling clay bake
Does anyone know how to bake permoplast modeling clay?

Lately all the sculpey I have been buying upon opening the box I have found it crumbled so I switched to amaco permoplast modeling clay at the suggestion of one of the employees. This clay does not have a set of instructions so I baked it like the sculpy and it literally melted… So Im not sure if it isnt able to be baked or what. Any insight?

Permoplast is the same as Plasticene – it’s a non-hardening clay made from linseed oil that you DO NOT BAKE.

The store employees steered you wrong – I’d take it back and let them know you could have burned the house down because of their foolishness!

grrr I hate that… speak to the manager. This could have been a story with a much sadder ending.

As for the Sculpey, contact the manufacturer and they should either refund you or replace the bad stuff. I’d find a new craft store if I were you.
