Playing with Clay to make Handmade Jewellery

Jewellery doesn’t always have to come from a jewellery store. Handmade jewellery is designed to be a family heirloom that can be passed down to multiple generations. With the holidays coming around, handmade jewellery kits would make a great gift for anyone that is creative and up for the challenge of making handcrafted jewellery.

There are items that are common in a household that can be used to make handmade beads. There are handcrafted jewellery kits that include various colored modeling clay, thick wooden dowels, toothpicks and a plastic knife to make hundreds of colored handcrafted beads for jewellery. Any child can create a unique handmade piece of jewellery and it is easy to make colorful beads without spending a lot of money.

You can make handcrafted clay beads that are two different colors of clay and can be shaped into a snake figure. To make this unique piece of handcrafted jewellery, the two pieces of clay need to be twisted together. The handcrafted snake shaped clay figures can be used to make handmade jewellery like bracelets and rings.

You can also wrap the twisted clay onto a wooden dowel and roll it back and forth until the clay is smooth. The smooth handmade twisted clay can be used to make beads to be used later for a handmade piece of jewellery. When getting ready to make beads, the plastic knife will be used to cut the clay. Once the clay is all cut, the clay needs to be rolled into the shape you desire for beads. Each bead needs to have a homemade hole placed in it with a toothpick.

The clay will need to be baked for 30 minutes at 110?C to harden the clay. Let the beads cool off for an hour, and then they are ready to be used to make a unique handcrafted piece of jewellery that can be given to anyone as a gift.
