what household metals can i make a women’s ring out of?
i want to make myself a ring out of something original around the house but it has to be some kind of metal.
what can i melt and mold to make a women’s ring band?
Just so happens a spoon would work, the handle can be used for the ring, and the ladle can be used as a pendant to hold a stone. You will need a torch using map gas and nickel rod to solder it together if it is stainless steel. Hopefully your not allergic to nickel. If you could find an old silver spoon, with the fancy scroll work, use silver solder. To make the ring, it would be real handy to have ring mandrel and a leather hammer.
Fork might also work, split the tines and form around mandrel, leave the upper portion of the fork intact, and smooth off with a file. With a drill you could cut a hole in the solid part of the fork, leave the hole near the edge, save the points that come out, and use the points to mount a drilled stone or pearl onto. Probably have to hammer these in a bit to get a good mechanical connection into the hole.
Anyway, that would be my thought. Have a good time, let me know what you decide on. If your set on molding it, copper or brass are the only two metals I can think of you don’t have to have a blast furnace for.
