rtv silicone mold making
can i make a mould for an ice sculpture out of Plaster of paris?

I want to make an ice sculpture mould of a tv by covering the outside in plaster of paris and then filling it with water and freezing it, would this work? i tried it with RTV silicone mix but it didnt work as it was too thin and just teared even after adding thrixotopic plus it is very expensive because i used a whole 2kg tin. so im looking for a cheaper option. any other suggestions will be appreciated

Yes you can make a plaster mold of the TV but be sure you don”t have any place the plaster can get caught so it does not come off later. Use take or clay to stop up any “undercuts”

The mold will need to be in parts so you can remove it from the TV and rejoin it for the freezing and separate it again to get your ice out.

I am assuming you are going to do some carving and finishing on it???? why not just find a good strong box or build a wooden box and pour your water, freeze and then do the sculpting??

Try out something small to practice and see where your problem will be.

good luck BUT DON’T BLOCK OF ICE COME ALREADY LOOKING A LOT LIKE A tv???
