40″ Ball Jointed Doll…Help!?
I’ve always wanted to make a BJD, but I need to know the measurements. I’m going for about 40 inches. (I know it’s going to be hard as all hell) Anyway, I have a few questions…What would be the measurements for it? The length (Head, Body, Arms, Legs ect…) and the circumference (Head, Body, Wrists ect…) What would be the best clay to make it out of? something that would break easily. Cernit Clay? What would be the best matieral to string it up with? And finally the last question, are there any good sculpting books that would help me?

Den of Angels used to have a sub-forum specifically about making dolls. I don’t think it’s open for posting anymore, but I believe the threads are still up for people to read. You should check there for more information. You might also want to see if you can find some information on the measurements of SOOM’s 80cm dolls. They would be pretty close to what you’re trying to make.
