How to carve the wood for the stones?

I am an artist in wood for the assembly of semi-precious stones in the woods. I use a tool Dremel to carve manufacturing where the stone is stuck in. I estimate the size of the hole as necessary to satisfy the stone quite comfortably, then paste it into your site. I wonder if there is a simple method of carving a more precise, so that the stone fits very well there, not jump too close. Ideas?

Buy a good clip (check ebay) you can see that the clip is on the side that allows you to measure stone and the other side allows you to enter the woods. You may be able to find a hobby shop, plastic … everything works and much less expensive
