What does the sun represent in the Middle Ages? I found an Artifact in my back yard.?

Well, about a year ago, I was digging in my back yard and came across a box, around 5 feet in the ground.
It was a wooden box with a really old looking sun symbol on it. It looked as if it was carved by a knife, or a piece of stone. I carefully placed the box on my table, and opened it. Inside there was pictures of a baby, a mother, a hand, and a bunch of wars. Each picture represented something.
Ever since then, stuff has been happening that I cannot explain.
I looked at the date of the box, and ingraved it said “1103″.
Does anyone know what this represented? The sun, the baby, the hand, and the women?

I don’t know what the sun represents exactly. Maybe a new hope? But as of the other items and the date, it makes me think of the holocaust, and maybe the family of someone who survived. And for the number (if the holocaust was involved) it could be the tattooed number that anyone entering the camps would receive.
But get it checked out man, not everyone gets to find a box filled with stuff from the past. Good luck.
