Amaco modeling clay breaks apart….?
Well, yesterday I asked a question about a certain type of clay, well I went to Michaels yesterday and picked up a 10lb box of Amaco modeling clay for about 7 bucks. I thought it was high quality stuff…but eh it seems that when you try to mold or shape it, it breaks apart. Does anyone know how to fix this?
1 Don’t use Amaco clay use a higher quality clay like Laguna brand ‘Soldate 60′
#2 After you make slabs, let them dry out for a little bit while covered loosely with a plastic bag. you want the clay to be ‘leather hard’ before working with slabs.
#3 when you connect pieces be sure to ‘slip and score’ the parts before sticking them together.
#4 After finishing what you are working on let the clay dry slowly. Cover it loosely with a plastic bag.
Hope this helps.
