What whittleing knife do I get?
I wish to start whittling, and I am pretty much a beginner. I have done much research, and though I found knives, I could not find one that described my needs. I would like a knife that I can use to carve little things out of basswood, and I had no trouble finding a pocketknife for this purpose. However, I live in the woods, and I have before found a stick made out of, say, pine, and taken a knife and just shaved off the bark and stuff to make a nice wooden staff. Is there such thing as a pocket knife (as in one that is relatively small and locks in a case) that I can use to make small designs or figurines in basswood (they don’t have to be that detailed) as well as to carve the bark of pine sticks or a general stick found in the woods?

Schrade Uncle Henry, three bladed folder
Buck stockman
Case stockman
Try to get a three-bladed knife so you can whittle for a while without re-sharpening.
DO NOT get a lock-blade knife. The locking mechanism will collapse when you least expect it, resulting in very uncomfortable wounds
