Most common method for casting metal?
terra cotta, lost-wax, subtractive method, or assemblage.
Lost wax.
Wax is sculpted into the desired shape, a mold is cast around it, then the wax inside is melted and drains out, leaving only the desired form as an empty space. Then, molten metal is poured into the void, the metal cools, and the outer mold is broken off, revealing the metal sculpture.
